Focus On God

What happens when we lose focus on God?  Sin takes over and leaves us feeling ashamed, embarrassed, empty, and guilt stricken.  It's so easy in this life to lose focus, right?  It's easy because we worry about worldly things like paying bills, status, relationships, promotions, all the things we think will bring us joy.  When we seek worldly things they are only temporary and we end up moving on to the next worldly thing trying to fill a void that only God can fill.  When we look to God we have everything we need.  He gives us everything we need, because He loves us so much.  When we look to God we are fulfilled with the spirit that can bring eternal joy.  This Lenten Season I will be focusing on God, and I pray that my focus will be sustained by my will and desire to see and know Him more graciously.

Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Psalm 1:1-6
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; ...
Romans 8:5
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
2 Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Matthew 6:24
No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
1 Peter 3:17
For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil.
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Proverbs 2:2-5
Making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
