The Burn

A hot iron
A frozen lake with thin ice
Not knowing

A hot heater
A cold day in February
Not communicating

A hot pizza
A cold froster
Lost of trust

A fire
An avalanche
Not getting along

None of these burn like the lost of true love

1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.

it's all about GOD

God Loves YOU!!!!
All you really need is the love of God.....God loves us like our parents love us or even better and more then our parents love us.  Have you ever created something that you were proud of?  Something that was a reflection of you?  How much pride and time you put into that project?  Well, Gods love is kind of like that, but plus infinity or shall I say eternity?  God's love when you acknowledge and cover yourself in it is indescribable.  His love for me brings hope, peace, security....Everything that it would take to feel loved.  He created us in his image.  He loves and wants the best for us like any parent would their child.  This pamphlet is for people who want to get closer to God.  Who want to learn basic principles on establishing a personal relationship with God.  I can tell you with certainty that my life would be all kinds of messed up if I was without the love of God.  I feel so blessed that he has called me to write this.  There is nothing like the love of God and nothing better then to share it.  Please contact me if you have any questions as I will do my best to answer them.  Thank you (kthierry76@msn.com).

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

How to Pray
I read somewhere that sticks in my mind that prayer should be like breathing, it should come natural and constant.  I pray all the time and maybe sometime about things that other people may believe to be frivolous.  I lost a remote and said "God I know you are busy with bigger issues then mine right now, but can you please help me find this remote?"  Sure enough God lead me to the remote.  People may say, "Awe, you just kept looking for it and finally found it!"  Nope, God put it in my mind to look where I did and I found it.  I just talk to him like I would anyone, but with the up most respect most of the time.  There are those times when I'm really frustrated and talk to God, but like any parent he knew I didn't mean it in a derogatory manner, and he is a forgiving God.  Kind of like asking a teenager to wash the dishes...You know they were frustrated when they questioned why they had to wash the dishes or snapped back about it.  I don't talk to God disrespectfully and I've NEVER cursed or used his name in vain.  I also apologize and ask for his forgiveness during these times when in my heart my manner of speaking to him was out of frustration.  He hears me and I know it.  I can't explain how beautiful and peaceful it is to know that I can count on Him.  I can't explain the love I feel when I'm sharing moments with God and I feel his presence like I can feel the breeze on my cheek during a windy day.  Prayer can be out loud, in your heart, mindful, anyway, because He hears it all.  I don't believe there is a right or wrong way to communicate with God.  You can do it standing up, sitting down, in a busy crowd, by yourself, at work or with someone else.  It may sound silly, but it's almost like talking to yourself sometime, but it's God who you are communicating with.

Isaiah 65:24
Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.

Matthew 6:9-13
Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
How to Listen
When I was a child I would often ask God to make the shutters move if he was there or make the wind blow.  Listening to God has to be different for everyone.  I always say it's that gut feeling.  Like going into a place and something says..."uh, maybe we shouldn't be here?"  Listening to that gut instinct can save your life.  I've had countless number of people tell me that if they'd listened to that gut instinct it would have kept them out of trouble.  I believe we all have it, because God gives us freedom of choice.  Again, when I was young my family never went to Church, however, we were spiritual but not religious.  Spiritual meaning we believed in God, but never went to Church which I consider is the religious portion.  I taught myself a lot about the Bible by reading it and asking questions of people who I knew were religious.  I asked God one day what the rainbow signified.  It wasn't until weeks later that I was flipping through the channels on my television and stopped at the story of Noah and the Ark.  The narrator said "the rainbow is a promise from God that he will never flood the earth again.  Saying no more water, fire next time."  My question had been answered.  It's very true when people say that God does things on his time. However, if you aren't open to receiving his word or focusing on Him speaking to you, what He's trying to convey may go missed.  Trust me, I've missed a lot of what God was trying to tell me and didn't realize until after a struggle when I looked back at the situation.  Everyone goes through this, but a lot of people do not attribute this to God, but to coincidence.....your life is no coincidence!  Everyone has a purpose and God has a plan for us all.  Being open and focused can help us hear God's call.  I have a friend who God has been calling for many years now.  My friend doesn't see it this way, but has been struggling and battling with God.  If you are at a point in your life that you are questioning yourself and God, He is calling you......you have to choose weather to answer that call or send it to voicemail.  I can guarantee you that he will be like a creditor and keep calling until you face Him.  At that time the best thing to do is to surrender.  For a lot of people surrendering is hard to do.

Proverbs 2:1-5
My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 23:26
My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.

When to Know When God is Working in Your Life
Feeling like He isn't listening when you can't see how He is working can be frustrating and confusing.  My car's breaks were going bad and being a single mother of four girls it seemed that everything else would come up, so I pushed it to the back burner, until one day I woke up and got into my car to this horrible rubbing of metal sound (people who know about cars are squinting up their faces right now).  I had been praying for a new car as my warrenty was almost out and without it I knew I wouldn't be able to afford to continue getting it fixed. I kept praying for God to help me get a new car.  Sometime, I pray so much out of habit that I forget what I'm praying about.  Then like a storm clearing I can see things coming together.  In most of my life the things I prayed for didn't always come how I expected.  Sometime trials or hardships are blessings in disguise.  We can't always or maybe it's very few times that we can see Gods ultimate plan, but everything He does works for the betterment of our lives.  I remember when I first got this car I drove to Church and as soon as I was in the Church parking lot a service light came on.  I got that fixed and I went to Church again and that same light came on again.  I had asked God for my dream car in which He gave me.  I am coming to realize now a lesson he may be teaching me, because I liked the status that this car brought me.  Lately, I'd been reading the story about the seeds:

Matthew 13:3-9, 18-23
“He used parables to tell them many things. “Once there was a man who went out to sow grain. As he scattered the seed in the field, some of it fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some of it fell on rocky ground, where there was little soil. The seeds soon sprouted, because the soil wasn't deep. But when the sun came up, it burned the young plants; and because the roots had not grown deep enough, the plants soon dried up. Some of the seed fell among thorn bushes, which grew up and choked the plants. But some seeds fell in good soil, and the plants bore grain: some had one hundred grains, others sixty, and others thirty.” And Jesus concluded, “Listen, then, if you have ears!”

“Listen, then, and learn what the parable of the sower means. Those who hear the message about the Kingdom but do not understand it are like the seeds that fell along the path. The Evil One comes and snatches away what was sown in them. The seeds that fell on rocky ground stand for those who receive the message gladly as soon as they hear it. But it does not sink deep into them, and they don't last long. So when trouble or persecution comes because of the message, they give up at once. The seeds that fell among thorn bushes stand for those who hear the message; but the worries about this life and the love for riches choke the message, and they don't bear fruit. And the seeds sown in the good soil stand for those who hear the message and understand it: they bear fruit, some as much as one hundred, others sixty, and others thirty.””
Matthew 13:3-9, 18-23

I realized I was the seed that fell among the thorn bushes, worried about what others think of me, because I have a luxury car.  When what really matters is how I feel about myself and how my work should be pleasing to God.  I live for his purpose and not my own.  So, life lessons and the Bible teaches me about myself daily.  I am going to get a car that is reliable and responsible.  One that will get me where I need to go and not break my pocket book when something goes wrong.  God gave me the good sense to learn from my mistakes.  I'm a sinner and make mistakes every day.....and He loves me still and continues to help me along my journey.  So, paying attention to how things transpire in and around your life will allow you to see how God works.

Beware of what you ask of Him, because God works in mysterious ways!
This is so true....Many times I have asked God for things that came to me, but not in a way that I expected.  He will use people and work through them to help you obtain the things you need and want.  I read the Bible every morning (Holy Bible App-has different meditations and plans) and came across this verse:

1 Corinthians 2:9
However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him--

How powerful!!!!  This was exactly how God works in my life.  When I would ask him for something, it would always turn out better then what I could have ever imagined or perceived.  So, when you ask for something don't be surprised if it comes to you in a way that you never expected. I have learned in some cases to be very specific, but He will still work on his own terms.  It is glorious to be loved by God!

Out of tragedy comes blessings.

John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

What Happens in Your Life When You Start Acknowledging God's Love
Many things start to take place.  You go through a transformative period that can be filled with many blessings, self awareness, and negativity.  Yes, negativity, because when you start to turn your life over to God the evil one doesn't like it.  He will try every and all temptations to get you back to doing evil.  When all else fails he will cause mischief in your life including with the people in your life.  It may hurt to the point of wanting to turn back to your old ways of thinking and behaving, but you have to hold fast and invite God in more never shutting him out.  During these times I am mostly on my knees praying for strength and the courage to make it through.  Since I am not perfect and many times fall into sin I have to get back up and asks for his forgives and continue on with my journey.  No one ever said it was going to be easy, because honestly nothing ever is......

Giving Thanks
I have learned to be thankful in everything.  During my bad and good times.  Remember, a blessing could be coming out of that tragedy.  So, be thankful for having another opportunity to see it through.  Being thankful comes from the heart of truly appreciating Gods love and what He does for you.  It is also telling him thank you for all of the wonderful blessings you are receiving and the opportunity to grow during difficult times.

Luke 12:28-30
28 And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
29 “And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. 30 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs.

Having Faith
The definition of faith is: having complete confidence in something or someone.  If you follow and apply this guide to your life then you have faith.  Faith is trusting that God's got you!  This may be hard when facing difficult times, but during these times is when you really need faith.  For me patience and faith go hand in hand.  Anything worth having takes time.  Allowing God to work in your life means giving him the time it will take for everything to fall into place.  Rely on that faith to help you get through allowing God to do what he does on his time!

Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Mark 11:22-24
And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

In closing, I hope this was helpful in understanding some basic principles that will help you become closer with God.  My relationship with God is always changing, because I am consistently growing and learning in His love.  Remember, we are not perfect while we strive to perfect our love in God we are sinners.  His love is merciful.  Reach out and spend some time with Him and he will guide your path to an even better understanding.  Have a blessed journey!

Colossians 3:23
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,

Trust

Trust

: belief that someone or something is reliable, good, honest, effective, etc.

A simple word with so many definitions so many implications.

In relationships it is imperative and a necessity.  Without trust the whole scheme of the relationship fails.  It is the foundation of every relationship.  Without it their is no relationship, but a cycle of confusion and ramifications of pain and hardship.  What makes trust more complicated is a lack of communication.  Why is trust such a challenging enigma to establish and even harder to obtain again once lost?

I feel deeply hurt when someone I care about doesn't trust me.  I can only imagine how God feels when we don't trust him.

Psalms 9:10
And they that know your name will put their trust in you: for you, LORD, have not forsaken them that seek you.

Psalms 13:5
But I have trusted in your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.

Psalms 20:7
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

Psalms 31:14
But I trusted in you, O LORD: I said, You are my God.

Psalms 56:3
What time I am afraid, I will trust in you.

Psalms 84:12
O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusts in you.

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding.

Proverbs 11:28
He that trusts in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

Proverbs 28:26
He that trusts in his own heart is a fool: but whoever walks wisely, he shall be delivered.

Isaiah 12:2
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my defense; he also has become my salvation.

Our Blind Eye

How do we ignore the number one cause of early death, the number one reason the prison systems are over crowded, the reason so many people die driving, the number one reason for poverty??????......How do we turn a blind eye to what drugs really do to our society?  It's an utter shame that everyone knows at least five or more people who have died from a drug overdose.  It's amazing that this issue isn't at the top of anyone's list of major concerns, but that so many are looking to open the door for more drug use........Sadly, we don't have more funding organizations looking for preventative measures.  Is anyone else concerned?

Cancer/heart disease all increased by smoking and other drug use causing what could have been an avoidable death.
60%-70% of people in prison report some sort of drug issue.  Many of them are drug users/dealers or have committed an offense under the influence of a drug.  Did you know that most of our histories serial killers had some sort of drug issue?
Number one reason of driving accidents is someone being under the influence of alcohol (which is a drug) or other drugs.
Why is their a need to drug test people receiving welfare? Many children in our country who go hungry do so, because of the addiction issues with one or both of their parents.
We can gather a list of personal and public figures who are no longer with us do to drug use.

Yet, we turn a blind eye as if this isn't our reality.......and consider adding marijuana to the list alcohol, cigarettes, and prescription drugs already occupy.

Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.

For Hip Hop Music Lovers

For Hip Hop Music Lovers

My top 7 list of songs right now that you have to hear.  If you are like me a little slow at catching on and want to know what's hot right now (July 6, 2015).  Check out this list, which is bound to imprint on your mind making you hummmm all week long at your work space.  Slight warning, some of these songs have explicit language and content.

Big Sean ~ This young emotional lyricist has no problem telling people how he feels.  Nor does he fail at leaving you something to bob your head to while thinking about his message.  I am biased on this one, because I am a Kanye West fan and believe in his musical genius as well as his protege Big Sean.  Check out: http://youtu.be/cZaJYDPY-YQ and http://youtu.be/M6t47RI4bns
Fetty Wap ~ What draws me to his music is his unique singing style of rapping.  He had to be on this list when my mom is walking around singing about Fetty Wap's Trap Queen.  This is a hood love song.  Who ever she is he apparently does everything with her, and I don't think he's talking about real pies? Ha!  Some of you may need to use the urban dictionary on this one if you want to really understand what he's trying to say.  This song will make you get up and dance and play it again.     http://youtu.be/i_kF4zLNKio
Jidenna ~ A very intelligent man that reminds us of our grandfathers and what they fought for and stood for.  He demonstrates the clean, poise, man of integrity in this video.  This is defiantly a song that will have you singing about being a "classic man" for days. I have a feeling that their will be a lot more to hear from this budding artist.  http://youtu.be/nsiN0W15w0U
Wiz Khalifa ~ I don't need to say much about Wiz.  If you haven't heard his music then you've been living under a rock or don't get out much.  This is a beautiful song that will touch your heart as it seems to be a tribute to Paul Walker.  May he rest in peace, he is greatly missed.  http://youtu.be/RgKAFK5djSk
Silento ~ So, if you want to know what's "poppen" in the latest dance styles then you have to watch this video.  If you can do any of these dances it will win points in whatever crowed you are in....guaranteed!   http://youtu.be/vjW8wmF5VWc
Weeknd ~ You may not know this guy, but if you've seen "Fifty Shades" then you've heard his song.  He has a collection of songs that really inspire the soul.  He has one with Ty Dolla $ign, but it is strictly for a mature audience.  This is a song that makes you want to grab someone special and pull them in for a spin around the room.  http://youtu.be/waU75jdUnYw
Omarion featuring Chris Brown & Jhene Aiko ~ Do you remember B2K?  Well, Omarion is back and hotter then ever!!!  Not to mention, anyone who adds Chris Brown to their song is bound to reach a record hit.  I don't care what anyone says about Chris Brown, he's very talented in singing, dancing, entertaining, and helping someone's record reach above and beyond what they had ever imagined.  You have to check this one out..  http://youtu.be/aPxVSCfoYnU

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing

My Favorite Characters on Game of Thrones

My Favorite Characters on Game of Thrones (or at least the ones that I appreciate who make my viewing time pleasurable)

^Daenerys Targaryen a.k.a "Khaleesi" a.k.a "Mother of Dragons" (Emilia Clarke) ~ Now she is a true definition of a "Boss B^tc#" and anyone who thinks otherwise is simply a HATER....  She is kind, understanding, nurturing, and fair, but don't get it twisted....please, because her dragons don't play.  Especially, Drogon....yep, he will burn you to a crisp ordurb and not ask any questions later.
^Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) ~ He just makes the show worth watching.  He is funny.  He's like the uncle that allows you to do things your parents wouldn't like drink, smoke, stay out way to late.  His sense of humor is real, blunt, and just straight forward.  He doesn't mince words, and he's so much fun.....
^Jon Snow (Kit Harington) ~ mmmmm. He is the man that every women would love to marry.  He will stay faithful, take you on adventures, treat you with respect, and not ask if you are going to pick up the next tab.  He is a true example of a "real man".  I am very sad that my "eye candy" will be gone from the show.....Geeze the Stark Clan is dwindling down.  I thought the good guys are supposed to win?
^Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) ~ She is that bad little sister who won't listen, but no matter what she does you still love her.  While you shake your finger at her in disappointment, inside you are secretly cheering her on.  She's like a bee you don't want to catch and get stung.  She needs to be free, and free she is.......Just make her your friend and definitely not your foe.  You want this little thang on your team!
^Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) ~ I mean you love to hate her.  She is a "mother hen" and loves those kids of hers.....and her brother's (so gross).  However,  she's is the horrible mother-in-law that you wish would stop meddling in your relationship....and that is an understatement.  You have to give it to her, because she is so cold....cold as in "bad" and "nice".  She plays her role way tooooo good!  I'm scared.  I'm really scared for all those people who embarrassed her by making her walk down the street bucket naked.  How dare them!?!?!?  Do they know who she is?  You already know it's going to be some ish.

Who's on your list?

Matthew 5:16 - Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Today Is Going To Be A Good Day

When someone says you are not good enough.
When someone says you can't be free
When someone says they can't hear you
When someone says they don't care
When you feel like you have everything to lose...And you do
When letting go causes you to be confused
When the devil's trying to get you

Opening your heart to listen
Opening your heart to do what's right
A modern day civil rights
And no one wins during the course of this fight
Time repeating itself
Fighting amongst each other
When it already seems the whole world is against us
We've got to stay united
Fighting to protect each other should be our biggest battle

Anything is possible
Chicago Blackhawks just won the Stanley Cup
God should be your goal, always looking up
Be who you want in this life, He should be the one to judge
Be born a guy, but be a girl: Be born white, but be black
The most important part should be what's inside
Celebrating life with love should be how we strive

Romans 15:5-6
5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

My New York Experience (just on my mind as I sit here)

I couldn't tell the difference between tourist and the real New Yorker.  The street people found homes sleeping on the steps.  He seemed at peace sleeping.  Somewhere so busy and with others walking around as they were couldn't provide me rest.  I wondered if he'd always been that way?  A book bag held up his head.  Which probably contained everything he owned in life.  New York where dreams are made.  Did his dream get crushed and his days grew one into another?  I would never know.  He must like it here, because he stays and sleeps soundly.  The diversity was amazing.  The different languages amazed me, but I wanted to understand what they were saying.  Could I find a home here?  Would I grow into something or someone different?  As a bus passed it bared the face of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.  I bet he's been to New York and I bet he loved it.  Imagining how I would feel with my face on the side of a tour bus.  Would that make me happy?  Sitting on a stoop in front of Starbucks across from the Hilton I was staying at.  I felt a chill, the carmel mocha frappuccino I drank didn't help.  It was colder then I expected.  A young hungover guy, couldn't tell if he was American, French, or from the United Kingdom, was looking for solace in coffee.  His eyes were red and he staggered a bit in his khaki shorts and grey shirt.  I guess the chuck Taylor's made a comeback or maybe they've always been here; they just stood out more today being on many passerby's feet.  Never seen so many people traveling with suitcases in tow on the street.  Would the world ever notice me?  I soaked up the New York streets.  I soaked up the music New York provided me with blaring horns from every direction, trucks stopping and going, people talking, bike wheels tic tic ticking, construction drills, breaks on cars screeching, birds chirping (and may I say more friendlier then on my street).  New York, like a loud and boisterous, risk-taking, kind (but don't get it twisted), energetic, person waiting for the next big adventure.  New York is a beautiful place to be.

I can only see the world through my own eyes that project my feelings and perception

I can only see the world through my own eyes that project my feelings and perception ~ Keisha

I am a candidate reference number.  What am I talking about?  I was looking at a job, because my passion is to write.  I would love to be apart of the entertainment field writing or pitching creative ideas for movies, films, television.  Anyway, when you apply for a job at this certain company you become a candidate reference number.  I've been looking at this company's website for several months feeling like I've tried to convey the best parts of me in my resume and cover letter, however that doesn't seem to be good enough.  So, I've become a candidate reference number.  Should that make me feel less of a person?  My grandmother used to tell me that she could leave one job and walk next door and get another job.  Maybe when they'd see her face-to-face she looked like the type of person they'd want to hire.  And they were right, because my family is full of strong black women who work hard.  We've been taught that from generation to generation that to be successful you have to work for what you want.  I feel at a disadvantage when in this modern world we apply through a computer or even more efficient through my iPhone 6.  The employer doesn't get a chance to measure me based off of the person I may be standing in front of them.  I am represented based off the best way I can convey myself on paper.  Being a writer I don't feel very confident right now in my writing abilities.  I even published a book!!  I am now a candidate reference number.  So, again looking today at this company's website, applying for another position, hoping and praying it will fit whatever criteria they are looking for....I see a position for a Director/Executive Director, CSR & Diversity.....ah, the light goes on.  Maybe that's why I haven't heard anything....Surly, the name Keisha doesn't scream Caucasian!?!?!  Then it all makes sense.  I was upset after my mind kept floating this information around like my résumé floating through Internet space.  Could this really be the case???  It is my perception that because I'm black maybe I'm over looked?  Then I thought if they don't hire a minority for that position what's the point.  Is that wrong?  I can only see the world through my eyes.....do other people believe the same thing or feel the same way???....If you want more diversity hire a minority for the Director/Executive Director, CSR & Diversity?  If you can't start there do you really want to be more diverse?  At least I know now that I may be wasting my time and need to look for a company that doesn't seem to have issues with diversity.  But then again this is only how I see it!

James 2:1-26
My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? ...

Exposing oneself is a way to become a better person and a way to help others become better people.

2 You can't keep your true self hidden forever; before long you'll be exposed. You can't hide behind a religious mask forever; sooner or later the mask will slip and your true face will be known. 3 You can't whisper one thing in private and preach the opposite in public; the day's coming when those whispers will be repeated all over town. 4 "I'm speaking to you as dear friends. Don't be bluffed into silence or insincerity by the threats of religious bullies. True, they can kill you, but then what can they do? There's nothing they can do to your soul, your core being. 5 Save your fear for God, who holds your entire life - body and soul - in his hands.

My God Energy Helping Me to Block Out the Distractions

I feel some kind of energy inside me that encourages me to become my best.  I am going to attribute this desire to God.  The closer I become to Him the more faith I feel in myself.  The more good I want to do.  It's this overwhelming feeling that there is more.  Their is more to me and for me that I haven't discovered.  I think at some time, at some point, everyone must feel this way.  The problem is that their are so many distractions in the world that keep us from focusing on our goal.  Our goal is our destiny in life.  The reason we continue to breath.  The reason for our existence.  But the distractions keep us from being our true selves.  They keep us from being who we want in our hearts.  The person we are intended to become.  I envy and admire those who don't care.  Those who continue to live out their truth, because they don't care about those distractions which could be what people think.  I admire those who live the life they want.  Those who have the courage to be their best even when they feel the odds are against them.  That is a tough thing to do in the world that we live.

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”         1 Samuel 16:7

Beneath It All

Beneath the layers of clothing that hides my skin
Beneath the shield of make-up that hides my true feelings
Beneath the skin that sometimes they see first
Beneath the bones that hold me together
Beneath the darkness that no one can hide
Beneath the light that everyone shines
It's just me
Beneath it all
It's just me

Romans 12:2, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Disappointment

Disappointment can be the fire that fuels the passion for reaching dreams if you acknowledge and light the flame.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

A Time for Everything

A Time for Everything

I can feel the change in the way the wind blows
How dark nights come early
and the symbols in the breeze
Squeeze your existence so you realize

I can feel the change in the way the wind blows
How noise is loud and carefree dying down
and the ears perk sensation
Feelings are intense not sure how to pursue

I can feel the change in the way the wind blows
How heat becomes cold
and the tips of your fingers hurt
Rushing for cover trying to recover or rediscover

I can feel the change in the way the wind blows
How going back to normal doesn't exist
and time runs like self transcendence
and things remembered create complexity or bliss

I can feel the change in the way the wind blows

What It Means To Be A Sinner

My heart hurts for all the mistakes I've made.  I'm sad that I feel like I've disappointed God.  That  my focus should be on him and what he wants for me, but it's on things.  I know he is here.  He's been with me all my life, but I can't hear him.  I can't get the evil out my head sometime.  I feel trapped a lot and a disappointment.  It's so hard to get back emotionally and mentally to were I'd like to be.  I want to be happy.  I need to be happy and I don't listen.  True happiness comes from God.  I wonder if what I want and what God wants is one in the same?  Sometimes I think he wants me to do what he wants.  Or maybe it's just hard to do what I know I should.  I'm so confused.  I think others get confused about God and just give up on him and sometime life.  I've seen the blessings in my life and I don't want to give up.  I want to get it right.  If I am a sinner can I ever get it right?  Right is doing what I know and feel in my soul and in my heart.  I will always make mistakes and I will never be perfect, that's what it means to be a sinner.

Get Out the Box

We live in a fearful time.  Sometimes it feels as if someone wants us to be afraid.  Like we live in a box.  When that one person tries to think outside the box and go against the grain of normal, they are turned on.  People turn against them for being different for wanting different.  We are made different.  We all have different skills and tools which are our gifts.  Once you find out what your gift is and use it....you become that person trying to get out the box.  For today, get out the box.  Don't be afraid to be different.

1 Peter 4:10

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:

Steps to Change

Steps to Change

1.  Identify what the problem is:  If you don’t know what you want to change then how can you start the process of change?

2.  Motivation:  Having the motivation to change is very important.  Some people may have to change everything to get out of there certain situations.  Are you ready to give up everything or everyone if you have to?  Are you ready to give up people who do not add positivity to your life, but influence chaos and destruction?  Once you have the motivation to make change and you are determined then you will be willing to do whatever it takes for change to occur.

3.  A Support System:  Everyone needs someone; a positive parent, a teacher, pastor, counselor, someone who is going to positively influence you in making good choices.  If you are going to make change you need someone in your corner to help with support.  So, when you have days that you feel like giving up (you will have those days*).  Your support system can encourage you to continue on the journey, because the battle may be long, but when you win the war you have succeeded.  *Giving up in the sense that you want to resort back to old behaviors.  The behaviors you are seeking to change are easily to fall back into, because we have become so familiar with them, so when things get hard it is our natural desire to go back to what we know.

4.  A plan.  A plan is the start of every good venture.  Having a plan is having the road map to get to the change you want to occur.  The plan could be to start exercising or drawing every time you want a cigarette.  Just having a plan will help you reach your desired goal for change.

5.  Change in perception.  Once you change your perception or thinking it will help in achieving your goal.  If you are trying to stop smoking cigarettes, for example, and you think about the relief and satisfaction smoking brings it’s going to be hard to stop.  If you change your thinking to focus on positive things and how your health will be better or how much money you will save this will continue to encourage your goal.

6.  Focus on today.  Don’t worry about yesterday; don’t get caught up in tomorrow.  Focus on how your change can occur today, right now.  If you focus on today and what it takes to continue the process of change today then you won’t get overwhelmed.  We have negative thinking that can creep into our minds getting us off focus.  Because we slipped up yesterday, or there is going to be a party and people will be smoking tomorrow will only overwhelm us.  Focus on change today and what you can do today.  I’m not saying don’t learn from the mistake you made yesterday or be ill prepared for tomorrow.  I’m just saying today is enough problems in itself, focus on being successful in the moment.

7.  Pray.  That’s what I always end with.  For me prayer is soothing to my soul and gives me hope and faith.  When I pray I know everything will be alright, even in the midst of the most uncomfortable and hardest times in life.  When I pray I am thankful and encouraged.  I pray.

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
